Stratford on Avon District Scouts end the year on a high. Gill Turner District Commissioner is proud to announce.
1st Tiddington Scout group
The re launch of 1st Tiddington Scout group, with two new leaders will form Stratford Districts Scout fourth Beaver Scout Colony. Janet Neale Beaver Scout Leader, Clare Collins Assistant Beaver Scout Leader and Councillor Michael Crutchley Chairman of 1st Tiddington Scout Group, along with 22 new Beaver Scouts will hold there first meeting at Tiddington Scout Head Quarters on the 12th January 2009.
Stratford District Scout Network
The Stratford on Avon District Scouts start its first Scout Network. The Scout Network is the Section for 18 to 25 Year Olds who wish to carry on their personal development through Scouting. There are many different activities and Awards available for Scout Network Members to participate in. The Scout Network was started in November of this year at Tiddington Scout HQ.
Queens Scout Award
The Queen's Scout award is the ultimate training Award for our members, it requires extremely high standards of self discipline, leadership and achievement in activities, interests and community service. It helps build confidence for the individual while they are having fun. This award is only gained by young men and women of the two senior sections, but preparation in attaining the Award begins much earlier.
This year two of the Stratford District Explorer Scouts have managed to gain there Queen's Scout Award. Gwyn Lovett Assistant Scout Leader at Newbold Sea Scouts and Ben Simmons Explorer Scout with TRED Explorer Scout Unit. Ben Simmons has also been chosen as part of the Reader Team for Her Majesty The Queen St George's day service at Windsor Castle next year.
6th Stratford on Avon (Clopton) Scouts
The Chief Scout's Gold Award (This badge is the highest award available in the Scout Section)
The 6th Stratford on Avon (Clopton) Scouts finished the year with an awards evening on Thursday 11th December 2008. With 10 of the Scouts gaining their Chief Scout's Gold Award and 81 challenge Badges awards to 20 Scouts. (10 Promise, 4 Community, 18 Fitness, 9 Creative, 11 Global, 9 Outdoor, 10 Adventure, and 10 Outdoor Plus). The awards were presented by Helen Heenan Warwickshire County Scouts Co-coordinator - Queen's Scout and Duke of Edinburgh's Award schemes.
